My Favourite Place
I was almost preparing to take that lazy afternoon nap, and then came the beautiful twilight through the grills of the window where I sit to paint. A diffused glow of Sunshine through the white curtains was enough to reach for my phone and eternalize the sheer beauty of the myriad of shadows painted by the sun rays and the objects on their way on the shiny floor of the room. The shadows and the reflections of the shelf, chair, and table, together made an interesting story to tell. It resulted in this painting.
Those slant rays of light that entered the rooms were so intense that they even created the reflections of the paintings on top of the shelf. The light creating both shadows and reflections of the same objects made an interesting scenario. The Sun made the painting originally for me, to be honest! I just had to take up the pursuit of bringing it to the paper surface.
This is my favorite place, a corner of a room with ample light and a breeze, where I sit to paint every day. What makes it a favorite place is certainly the occasional intervention of a muse, the Sun, inviting me to paint while not losing communication with the rest of my habitat.
Does it look like an artist’s studio? Of course not. I have another studio room with way too less order and much more chaos, inspiring me in other ways.
